Solar is not required. The SG600 is a variable frequency drive (also called a variable speed drive or VSD) for suitable 3-phase motor applications — pumps, fans, conveyors and machinery. A normal VFD first — solar is a bonus feature
You do not need solar panels. Choose the appropriate AC mains configuration and use the SG600 as a motor drive, or discuss its solar MPPT capability for a suitable application. Your contractor should confirm model ratings, protection and controls against the applicable manufacturer documentation.

Features
One drive between the supply and a standard 3-phase motor. Run it on mains like any other VFD, or put panels on the front and pump water on a site with no grid connection.
Works with or without solar
AC mains operation needs no panels. Optional solar MPPT offers another supply option; confirm the supported AC/PV configuration for the exact model.
Auto sleep and wake
Starts by itself once there's enough power, and stops cleanly at low light — no one has to drive out to the bore.
Dry-run and level control
Dry-run sensing, low-water alarm, tank-full float or 4–20 mA level input, and lowest-stop-frequency protection to keep the pump safe.
Flow and energy reporting
Sensorless flow calculation and generated-energy totals on the LED panel, so you can see what the system actually delivered.
Full pump protection
Phase loss, phase short, earth fault, stall, over-current, minimum input power and lightning protection as standard.
